about

Nights are long

I bought this guitar on lay-buy with no way to pay it off, being completely broke. Then driving home someone crashed into my car, I took the insurance check and went and picked up the guitar. I probably should have bought another car.

lyrics

When I wrote-off my first car
I cashed that cheque
And picked up my first guitar

I had bills to pay
I had some debts to settle
I spent the money anyway

Won’t you be my only one
When the days are short
And the nights are long

When I quit my first job
I didn’t think that through
I had some point I needed to prove

Just out of school and out of home
And the first time on my own
I had to learn how to be alone

Won’t you be my only one
When the days are short
And the nights are long

When I broke up with my first girl
I was a little cold
I wish I knew then what I know now

That everyone you meet is afraid
And often a little broken
But no one wants to sleep alone

All these things we build mean nothing
Without some feeling that we belong

Won’t you be my only one
When the days are short
And the nights are long

Won’t you be my only one
my special one
the only one
I need
